....agencies have captured the paper and card board recycling market .Inprisoning them in green bins . Great ! What a wonderful achievement . But there are many people including people on "Trademe" "Ebay" and "general sellers" on the international market and local market that rely on cheap or free card board boxes. In which to ship their goods.A recycled card board tube worth $2 to $3 dollars and some times $6 to $7.00.I do not subscribe to the mentality of "free and Cheap " .But a card board box recycled instead of pulped can be worth $5.00 to $6.00 when charged as a packing component to an overseas client. In fact the overseas client more often or not likes to see that the box is recycled.
The bureacrats and environmental people of agencies that actually recycle card board are generally unaware of the actual possible reuse of this valuable commodity that they are so often just dumping and collecting a wage at the end of the week for doing so.Take for example 5,000 boxes a month leaving NZ recycled at a $5.00 packing charge ,this includes card tubes as well it represents $25.000.00 possibly in Euros or USD.Not a major industrial scale of operation but a cottage industry scale I beleive that in this aspect of recycling we have got it wrong.
When I have approached shop and store owners and offered them cash for used card board boxes preferably ones that have had candles or purfume in them I find that their response is actually quiet negative....and have never done anynthing to actually consider turning their boxes into cash... THIS IS MY PETPLUS PEEVE.
